The term: "you don't need a king, to have a kingdom" came from my father who always reminded me that I was a strong and independent woman. The message behind this saying is: you do not need a man to have it all. All of our lives and throughout history men have always been the breadwinner, the leader, the survivalist, and the protector. I mean let's face it "HIStory" Well, this is me saying: SCREW GENDER ROLES! We are women: the one who gives birth, the one who feels an excessive amount of pain every month, and the one who is constantly being told we aren't good enough for society. Do not let a man tell you what you can and cannot do. We can do all things with or without a man in our corner. If we need to we can change our own tire, set up our own dresser, and carry our own heavy boxes. We are not a housewife that cooks, cleans, and watches the kids. We are the women who set goals for ourselves and chase after them; with a man on our side or not.
